When it comes to luggage, I look for three things: durability, functionality, and ease of travel. Recently, I had the opportunity to test both the LEVEL8 Voyager 20″ Carry-On and the LEVEL8 Adventure 24″ Check-In suitcase side by side. If I’m choosing top four things, aesthetics are very important to me as well.
To make this comparison as fair as possible, I packed both bags with many of the same travel items and evaluated everything from the exterior design to storage capacity and overall usability.
If you’re trying to decide between these two suitcases, here’s what I found.

Exterior Design and Durability
Both the Voyager Carry-On and Adventure Check-In feature durable hard-shell construction, but they have very different looks.
The Voyager Carry-On has a refined micro-diamond textured finish that helps hide scratches and scuffs. It feels sleek and polished while still being practical for frequent travel.
The Adventure Check-In has a smoother shell with modern design lines that give it a more rugged appearance. After multiple trips, my suitcase still looks great. I’ve noticed very little visible wear, and there are no dents or damage despite regular use.
Although both bags are hard-shell suitcases, they have a slight flexibility that helps absorb impact during travel. This gives them a sturdy yet durable feel.

Smooth and Quiet Spinner Wheels
One of my favorite features on both suitcases is the 360-degree dual spinner wheel system.
I’ve rolled these bags across airport floors, sidewalks, parking lots, hotel entrances, and even rougher outdoor surfaces. The wheels remain smooth, quiet, and surprisingly easy to maneuver.
Whether the suitcase is lightly packed or completely full, the wheels glide effortlessly.
Wide Comfort Handle
The wide comfort handle was a feature I didn’t expect to appreciate as much as I did.
Even when the suitcase is fully packed, the handle design makes the bag feel balanced and easy to roll. Instead of constantly pulling or pushing, the luggage naturally moves alongside you.
For longer walks through airports, this feature makes a noticeable difference.

TSA-Approved Security Locks
Both suitcases include built-in TSA-approved combination locks for added security.
The placement differs slightly between the two models:
- Voyager Carry-On: lock positioned near the top handle
- Adventure Check-In: lock positioned on the side of the suitcase
Both suitcases also feature flexible carry handles that lift easily and then lay flat when not in use, helping maintain a clean, streamlined look.
Inside the LEVEL8 Adventure 24″ Check-In

The Adventure suitcase uses a top-opening design rather than a traditional clamshell layout.
This quickly became one of my favorite features.
Because the suitcase opens from the top, it sits perfectly on a luggage rack and allows easy access to everything inside without needing to open both halves of the bag.
The trolley handle system runs along the edge of the suitcase rather than through the center. This creates a completely flat packing surface, which is especially helpful for delicate clothing and items that wrinkle easily.
This also allows for maximum packing capacity to fit more inside.
I packed several linen pieces directly on the bottom and found they stayed in great condition.
Storage and Organization
The Adventure offers excellent organization throughout the interior.
Features include:
- Deep expandable side pocket
- Multiple storage compartments
- Flat packing surface
- Compression system
- Expansion zipper for additional capacity
The deep side pocket runs nearly the full height of the suitcase and expands thanks to its pleated design. I used mine to store medications, a first aid kit, and various smaller travel essentials.
Even after packing everything I needed, I still had room remaining.
The expansion zipper is especially useful for longer trips or bringing home souvenirs.
Inside the LEVEL8 Voyager 20″ Carry-On
The Voyager Carry-On offers a thoughtfully designed interior with practical organization features.

Inside you’ll find:
- Waterproof compartment
- Mesh storage pockets
- Dual-sided packing compartments
- Compression panels
Both sides of the suitcase pack flat, which helps maximize available space.
To test capacity, I packed the Voyager using many of the same items I placed in the Adventure suitcase.
While I was able to fit everything inside, it became clear that I was reaching the carry-on’s limits. By the time I added toiletries, hair tools, and a few final items, closing the suitcase required significantly more effort.
It did zip closed, but there was virtually no extra room left.
If I were packing for an actual trip, I would probably remove one or two items to leave a little flexibility.
Which Suitcase Holds More?
There was a clear winner in terms of packing capacity.
The Adventure 24″ Check-In comfortably held everything I packed while still leaving room for additional items. The expansion zipper adds even more flexibility for shopping, souvenirs, or longer trips.
The Voyager Carry-On can absolutely work for travelers who pack strategically and prefer carry-on-only travel. However, if you like options, outfit choices, or extra room on the return trip, the Adventure offers a much more forgiving packing experience.
Sustainability and Award-Winning Design
Another aspect I appreciate about LEVEL8 is its commitment to sustainability.
The interior lining is made from 100% recycled PET materials, creating a durable fabric while reducing environmental impact.
LEVEL8 has also received multiple international design awards, including:
- Red Dot Design Award
- iF Design Award
- Additional recognition for innovation and sustainability
It’s always nice to see a company focusing not only on design but also on responsible manufacturing practices.
My Final Thoughts
Both the LEVEL8 Voyager Carry-On and Adventure Check-In are lightweight, durable, and backed by a lifetime warranty.
I would recommend the Voyager 20″ Carry-On if:
- You prefer carry-on-only travel
- You pack light
- You want to avoid checked baggage fees
- You take shorter trips
I would recommend the Adventure 24″ Check-In if:
- You prefer more packing space
- You travel for longer periods
- You like bringing home souvenirs
- You want extra flexibility while packing
I could see using a set for optimal packing on long trips where I take the carry-on size in the plane with me, and check the larger bag. This gives flexibility to take both or only whichever one suits your trip. They glide so easily together in one hand, it’s no problem to glide both of them together too.

Personally, I can see myself traveling with both. The Voyager is ideal for shorter trips, while the Adventure is perfect when I need more space. Together, they make a great travel set that rolls smoothly and handles beautifully through the airport.
